Wineglass Marathon Training Recap Week 2

June 22, 2015 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC45 Comments

Well, I made it through another (hot, humid) week of training. Barely. This past week was a bit unusual because I spent the beginning of the week in WV with K, celebrating our anniversary. We had a delightful time (and I’ll share more later) but it’s always nice to get back to home and routine. You can see my racing plan for the rest of the year here, but in October I’m already signed up for the Wineglass Marathon on October 4, the Army Ten Miler on October 11 and the Marine Corps Marathon on October 25.

WINEGLASS Marathon Training Recap

As I mentioned above, the week got off to a different start because I was out of town. That, plus a hectic work schedule meant for only one Pure Barre class. Boo! At least I got my runs in!

Monday: 1 Run Streak mile

Tuesday: 1 Run Streak mile

Wednesday: A terrible attempt at a tempo run. It was hot, my legs were dead and it was just awful. I was supposed to run 2 easy, 2 at 9:06 and then cool down with 2 easy. I ran 2 easy, 2 at 9:26 and .5 for a cool down home. It sucked. But sometimes it’s just not your day.

Thursday:  1 Run Streak mile

Friday: 1 mile on the treadmill (ugh) and Pure Barre

Saturday: Fit Foodie 5k. I’ll have a full recap later this week, but this was a really humid (like 95% humidity) race. I didn’t PR, but ran a solid 28:03, with my last mile my fastest mile.

Sunday: Made up for missing my Saturday long run on Sunday. 10 ridiculously humid miles (noticing a pattern here?).

Total: 22 miles + Pure Barre

2015-06-21 08.38.04-1

This week I’m hoping for lower humidity and fresher legs. On that note, off to foam roll!

Tell me about your training last week!

The humidity is no joke here too! I keep trying to remind myself how fast and fresh I will be for Chicago when October comes and its cooler. Have a great week!

I need to do some foam rolling this week. I did a 5k on Friday plus Pure Barre yesterday. I don’t know if it’ll be a recover week, but I know my legs will appreciate the foam roller.

I don’t deal well with humidity, so I’m very grateful I live in a dry place. I don’t feel like doing anything when it’s humid, let alone workout. I have no idea how people do it!

Good Job! Humid weather is hard to run in, it’s like you can’t breathe. Last week was a slow one for me I did 2 5ks and a little lifting and a hike this week will be better.

I am so glad I don’t have to deal with that Summer humidity here. We usually have a nice little ocean breeze to help keep it to a minimum. Have a great week of training!

The heat and humidity was crappy. After last weekend’s awful race miles I was ready for the worst but my 10 on Saturday morning ended up not being too bad. I think it being slightly cooler and cloudy in the AM helped! This week looks like a different story, ugh!

Nice job on getting that run in on Sunday (I waited until the afternoon… faux pas…so I had to go inside). Hopefully the rain will cool off the area this week… doubtful though (b/c I thought the same last week).
