This week, I was back in business with all my regularly scheduled runs. We had a really crazy week in terms of storms and rain (lots of flooding with violent storms many days last week), but that turned out to equal comfortable running temperatures on Saturday and Sunday. Remember that you can see my racing plan for the rest of the year here.
Monday: 1 slow mile for recovery after my ten mile run the previous day.
Tuesday: Pure Barre and 1 run streak mile.
Wednesday: Physical therapy appointment in the morning and hill repeats in the evening. This one was tough. The hill was steep and a quarter of a mile long. We did 8 repeats and I definitely was wiped out afterwards.
Thursday: After hill repeats my legs were tight, and so I did an easy two miles to shake them out.
Friday: Pure Barre and one easy mile.
Saturday: Oh Saturday. I awoke at 5am to the sound of raindrops on my roof. However, a little rain won’t stop anyone, right? So, I got myself together and headed to my group run. I pulled up and didn’t see anyone — it turns out the group run was cancelled due to the threat of thunderstorms. However, a few other folks were like me and missed the message – which meant we ran. At that point, I’d already done the hard part – getting out of bed at 5am. I wasn’t just going to go back home and go to bed. So a few of us set out for some wet miles. And it was wet – my blistered feet tell the tale. BUT, it was way better than the past two weekends heat and humidity. We got in 11.11 soaking wet miles.
Sunday: Sunday morning I ran a four mile race that I was intending to use as a tempo run. For the most part it was a great run – excellent weather and the first half of the course was downhill. Of course, that means the second half was uphill. And oh my, did I blow up. My last mile was almost 2 minutes slower than my first 3. Ouch. That hurt – and not just my legs. However, I got the miles in and that’s what matters, right? At least that’s what I’m telling myself. I ended the week back at Pure Barre. It felt so good to stretch it out.
Total: 24ish miles plus three Pure Barre classes. It was a good week. My knees are a little achy but this is the highest mileage week I’ve had in awhile so I’m just gonna make sure to keep stretching and doing my PT exercises.
How was your training this past week?
