Wineglass Marathon Training Recap Week 4

July 6, 2015 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC22 Comments

This was a cutback week and I accepted the slight downgrade in mileage with open arms. Overall, the week went well and while I did not get a tempo run in, I got in just about the number of miles that I needed. One month of marathon training is in the books!

WINEGLASS Marathon Training Recap

Monday: After my terrible four mile race the previous day (recap coming soon), I desperately wanted a rest day. However, I was in my last few days of the run streak and wasn’t willing to stop running. So I ran one slow recovery mile and decided to do the same thing Tuesday.

Tuesday: 1 mile and Pure Barre

Wednesday: Track work day! I met my group at the track for our speed work out. The plan was 2×1600, 2×400 and 3×200 (with a 400m recovery after each set – 200m recovery after the 200s). This was a tough workout but it was awesome. We hit our paces and were working hard. Then, just before it was time for the 200s, the skies opened up. My bud Jess and I still had our 3 200s to do so we waited it out for a few minutes and then figured, what the heck? A little rain never hurt, right? Well. This was not a little rain – this was sheets of rain that were coming down so hard I could barely open my eyes. However, we got it done. We did have to bail on our last 200 because a huge crack of lightning and thunder came through and at that point, it was time to go home. πŸ™‚

we are SOAKED. my eyes are red from all the rain getting into my contacts.

Thursday: 1.1 easy miles and Pure Barre

Friday: 1.5 easy miles

Saturday: 10.5 miles and Pure Barre. We ran up a trail that has a gradual incline – the trail is actually one of my favorites, but it’s not easy. This run felt good, though. The pace was really consistent and I ran my fastest mile at mile ten. I felt like I could have kept going easily – which isn’t something that always happens with me and long runs. It was also my last day of the run streak – I ran daily from Memorial Day to the 4th of July. I was really proud of myself for not skipping any runs, even when I really wanted to!

Sunday: Rest day. The first complete rest day I’ve had since mid-May. It felt good.

Total: 20 miles plus 3 Pure Barre classes.

I’m headed out of town for work this week and hoping to get my long run in on Friday since I’ll also be gone this weekend.

How was the month of June for you in terms of running? I was just under 100 miles and lots of Pure Barre!

Congrats on finishing the streak and hooray for being able to take a rest day (you kinda deserve it). Even though you were feeling it and had to do a few 1 mile days you will probably see the streak/consistency pay off. Good luck with training this week!

Thanks Amy Lauren! The rest day felt really good, I have to be honest! I’m definitely going to gather my thoughts about the streak soon. Have a great day!

Yay for the streak, and now you can rest. I don’t do streaks because if I want a break, I need to take it. Either physically, mentally, or both, and I can’t ignore it.

Yay on finishing the run streak strong! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it now that you’re finished with it. I’m sure the rest day felt good. I’ve definitely reduced my mileage so far this summer since I haven’t formally been training for anything. But that changes this week πŸ™‚

Awesome job with completing the running streak! Very cool! June was a good running month for me. Ran a 12 minute PR in the half marathon June 13 after a 12 week training cycle so that was exciting! I was around 100 miles as well for the month. I’ve gotten caught in a downpour before too. There is something liberating about it! Congrats on finishing the workout regardless!

NIce job completing the running streak! I just recently have found a couple barre classes I really like, and have been so inspired to try it more after seeing other runners like you enjoy it. I’d love to make it down to Pure Barre one of these days!

I’m not sure how my mileage was in June! One of my goals for July is to keep better track of my runs/progress/mileage so maybe I can check in next month πŸ™‚

Impressed that your streak is still going strong! My June sucked for running, but that’s ok. Hoping to pick it up this month! MCM training started today!

Nice job with finishing that streak strong. A month of solid running is impressive and you are going to see huge benefits very soon. My June running was really good as well. No streak but I was rather consistent.

Congrats on seeing your running streak through! What a great month of running πŸ™‚ June was okay, took a little time off running to heal my leg pain, but I think July is going to be a great month of building mileage!
