Are We There Yet?

February 6, 2014 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC15 Comments

As most of y’all know, last November I ran my first marathon (recaps here and here if you missed them). It was both the hardest thing I’ve ever done (physically speaking) and the most exhilarating. So much so that I signed up for a March marathon, with training that began less than a month after my first marathon. There have been many cold/rainy/icy/snowy Saturday mornings before a long run that I’ve wished I could go back and tell myself:

GirlUCrazy

While for the most part I have enjoyed this training cycle, I am a bit tired of waking up at the crack of dawn to run for hours on Saturday mornings. Marathon training takes over your life a bit and I’ve basically been in this training mode sinceย last July. I’m just tired of training and tired of long runs. I’m really looking forward to March 16th and to getting able to run shorter distances.

Please direct me to this post if, after Shamrock, I get some crazy idea to train for another marathon this year. You know, like if I try to run Marine Corps. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you ever felt like you were just ready to get a race over with so you can not be training so much??

Yes, absolutely! After April I will be taking a nice long break (until fall that is)!

Sounds nice, doesn’t it?? I’ll still be running post marathon (Cherry Blossom in April and Zooma 1/2 in May) but I won’t be running double digit miles each and every weekend, which will be a treat!

Spring marathon’s are always a bear to train for, you can never predict the weather! But for some strange reason, I totally see you running Marine Corps this year, you’d love it!!!!

That is one of the reasons I decided to forgoe a spring marathon. I hate running in the dark when it’s cold. I’m looking forward to spring/summer training for MCM again! You are almost there!! We need to meet up at Shamrock!!

I think I’ve been training for this half for so long that I’m just ready for the race. I know I needed a long training plan to build back up safely, but now that I’ve gotten into my longer runs I am anxious to see how my race goes!

I think it’s fantastic that you pushed yourself to do two marathons so close together, I’m envious of your drive.
I have always wanted to be able to run, but Im so unfit and starting off is so difficult. Maybe this year though.
I really like your blog design by the way x

Thanks Christine — start small and just keep at it. You’re right – it’s hard but so worth it!

I am always in awe of people who ran a marathon. It takes a lot of dedication that a lot of people don’t have!
