March was a pretty busy month but I was really pleased to really take on the month head on. Let’s review my goals for March: build my mileage back up in preparation for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler, take 20 Pure Barre classes, practice more patience and be more intentional in terms of staying in touch with my friends. Not only did I build my mileage back up, I actually ran a 17.75k (11.03 miles) race – recap coming soon! I’d say I definitely met that first goal. I also finished 20 Pure Barre classes. I can’t believe I took 20 classes in one month – but I did! I improved my patience but it is still something I’m actively working on. I am really happy to report that I had great phone conversations with friends who live out of state and met up with a couple of friends in the DC area that I hadn’t seen in awhile. I also met my former coworkers for happy hour. I definitely want to continue being intentional with my friendships!
- Run 4x a week. I’ve decided (more about this to come) that I’d like to drop about 5-10 pounds before I start marathon training this summer. One of the ways I’m going to be doing that is adding a fourth run each week. I’m running an April 5k race series, where I’ll be running a 5k each Friday evening so it shouldn’t be too hard to get in that extra run.
- Do my PT prescribed exercises 4x a week. My new exercises kind of suck (because they are hard) but I know how important they are and honestly, it’s just a waste of money to go to PT and not do the work. I want to stay healthy and running and this is a part of it.
- After two months of intense Pure Barre work, it’s important for me to find middle ground. I will be traveling for almost a week in April, however I’d still like to go to at least 4 Pure Barre classes a week. I am loving how strong I’m getting and want to keep it up.
- Be out of boxes by the end of the month. We are moving (locally) this week and I’d really like to be all out of boxes by the end of the month. I hate clutter so hope that giving myself a month to get things organized is enough time.
I feel really optimistic about this months goals!
What are your goals for April?
That is a great set of goals Courtney, and they hit all the requirements of achievable goals. Love that you have your strengthening exercises in there; those are so important, most do not realize just how much they help you stay healthy. It is great you have found a program that works. Just wanted to stop by and say keep up the great work, and good luck at Cherry Blossom!
Thanks so much for stopping by – I’m really hopeful for all my goals this April π
Great job on getting your Pure Barre classes in! You must have core that is amazing!! I need to drop about 10 pounds before MCM training starts in July. I just keep gaining and not only do my jeans not fit, my yoga pants are starting to get snug, how does that happen? I just want to feel comfortable in my skin!
Yeah, the weight just crept on. Meh. I’m doing a juice cleanse for the next few days to reset my cravings…this winter I really went crazy with sweets!
I love the idea of a 5K every Friday! Once Cherry Blossom is over, I’m worried that I will slack off on my running and lose all the progress I made. Running 4x a week is a great goal.

Your goals are awesome and I really need to try Barre!!!!!! I also need to work on my core and strength exercises more π

Congrats on doing so well with your March goals. April sounds like a busy month for you with travel and adding more running to your schedule. I find 3 and sometimes 4 days a week of running is plenty for me.

Yeah, I agree — 3 to 4 days a week is really solid for me as well! The extra run will be short and easy π
That’s great that your Pure Barre is helping you feel so much stronger. Maybe I should try it again I just didn’t get anything from it all when I went last year. Great goals!

what do you mean, you didn’t get anything out of it? i’ve NEVER heard ANYONE say that – it is a really challenging workout…
i don’t mean that in a weird way, but i’m confused by what you mean when you say you didn’t get anything out of it. did you just not like it?
Love your goals and Congrats on reaching yours last month! Whenever, I get to run four days a week I always feel so great!
I am the WORST when it comes to unpacking boxes after a move, I moved in December and I still have two boxes I haven’t unpacked.

two boxes isn’t that bad but i’m hoping now that i’ve made my goal public, we can knock it all out in april π
My goal for April is to still run 3x a week. I’ve got a 10k in three weeks so that will be a good motivation, but I’m now really enjoying this time of just running for exercise. I don’t care about the time or the distance, but I just want to stay somewhat fit during this pregnancy. The biggest goal is to finish each run with a smile on my face and not to fall!

that is the only goal you should have!! so excited for you guys π
Way to kill it at your barre classes! I’ve never tried one before but it sounds tough! The goals are great – way to stay accountable. I don’t have any set goals, but this month i’m focussing on lifting heavier rather than circuit workouts all the time!

Thanks for sharing your April goals. It’s nice to see what everyone is working on. Congrats on 20 Pure Barre classes. I have yet to check out a class, maybe that’ll be one of my goals.
Thanks!! It was a good month π
a 5k running series sounds fun! I think you have great goals for April
I’m super excited about the series!
Ahhh getting out of boxes..worst part of moving! Good luck!!

Thanks lady – we’ll need it!
You are going to be super strong for marathon training if you keep it up with the Barre workouts. I’m jealous of you on that account. I am focusing on foam rolling and yoga this month. And on a personal note, I want to loose my baby weight before the end of june when I start training for NYC. I start a 21 day challenge in a couple weeks, and I’m hoping that will be just the catalyst to get me there.

I’m hoping so! Can’t wait to read more about your 21 challenge. π
Courtney, I am the WORLD’S WORST at keeping up with my PT exercises, but I’ve made myself a promise that I’m going to stick with them this time around because I know it will pay dividends. Usually, as soon as I start feeling better, I slowly taper off until I just completely fizzle out and quit doing them at all; we’ve got to stick with it! π Best of luck on your move this weekend; hope all goes well!

way to go! it was a beautiful morning!
Way to go on meeting your goals! I don’t think patience would be a reasonable goal for myself… lol I think being intentional about keeping up with friendships is important. Something I need to practice also. My biggest goal for April is to run a 3:35 marathon and qualify for Boston. I’m hoping my work has been enough to finally qualify! Getting nervous.

These are great goals! I need to do my PT exercises more regularly too. But I always find something better to do…

Hope the move is going well! I hope to lose some lbs before marathon training begins as well. I have some winter weight gain that I would like to shed + some.

My goal for April is to start thinking about face lifting my blog. As a first step I have found someone who can help me, I just need to focus a little more on it. Second goal is to reduce wheat consumption… definitely advantageous for my digestive track !
