Welcome to my monthly series where I share my blog stats and income with you. I was inspired to do this because I know of some bigger bloggers (like Pinch of Yum) who share their blog stats and income but I really didn’t see any smaller bloggers (like me! and maybe you!) who do so. I figured if I was looking for something like this, others might be as well, so I decided that I’d start sharing my monthly stats and income. Here’s my August blog stats and income report – I hope you find this helpful (you can find July’s report here)!
Ad income: 40.47 (BlogHer) +8.67 (Adsense) = 49.14
Affiliate income: 75
Sponsored campaigns: 50
Total August income: $174.14
Total August pageviews: 12,022
I knew that August would fall in both page views and income. I posted less in August and at least for me, that makes a difference. I thought it’d be fun to compare August 2015 versus August 2014 to see how much growth I experienced. As you can see below, I had just over 40% more page views this year than last August. However, what I think is probably most important is that the number of users (remember users are the people clicking over to the blog) has grown by over 50%. That means that more people are finding the blog and reading it. That’s an encouraging statistic to see.
In August, my top three posts were:
- How I fuel for the long run.
- Tips on how to become a morning runner.
- My Bird Camp recap.
In August, my top three referral source for traffic were: 1) direct sources – meaning that folks typed in Eat Pray Run DC directly; 2) google searches and 3) Pinterest. This means that I’ll continue working on SEO and Pinterest. I have given myself a deadline of the end of the year to get a couple of things in place on the blog and I’m excited about them. I know I keep referencing exciting things, but they are really coming. I’m going to keep doing my blog stats and income reports on the blog because of the awesome feedback I received from y’all. However, I will be posting fewer blog tips on this blog. You will still see occasional blog tips as well as this mostly post, but starting sometime in early 2016, I’ll be moving most of my blog tips to a subscription list that will also contain some other fun things (i.e. it will not be an email just listing my blog posts – that’s what Bloglovin is for!).
Be sure to come back next month for September’s blog stats and income report!
Congrats on another great month, Courtney. I think we often get too focused on comparing stats from month to month, so great idea to compare your stats to a year ago. I’m not surprised that more people are reading your blog. 🙂

It’s good perspective to look at growth over a longer period 🙂 thanks lady!
Congrats again on your progress! I’ve finally seen the power of Pinterest as it have moved up to #3 on my traffic sources, so I know I’m moving in the right direction with that. Still working on users and page views, but I know that will improve gradually with time. Thanks again for posting your reports and can’t wait for all your exciting things! 🙂

Thanks so much Michelle and great work with Pinterest!!
Appreciate your sharing these stats. I am still trying to figure out all of mine. I have similar user numbers but about half of the page views that you do. Not sure what to make of that or what it means.

Hmmm that’s really interesting. I’d be curious about some of your other stats as well.
So I read this wrong at first and thought it said $17,414 and was about to quit my job immediately and start up my blog again. I need more coffee. Clearly.
lol. that would be…out of this world. hahaha.
Way to go, Courtney!! If there’s a blog I’m going to read, it’s definitely yours; I never miss it. I’m so glad that others are discovering it and having the same experience. 🙂

I did not know you can compare your stats from one time period to another…very cool to see that your pageviews jumped so much! As always, thanks for sharing!

yeah, it’s a really helpful tool to be able to compare like that. google analytics has tons of stuff you can do!
Great month! August can be a tough blogging month with vacations and stuff. I love seeing your numbers, and am really glad you gave me the idea to do this too. I think a lot don’t realize smaller blogs still can make money. Nothing to live off but hey they pay for a race or two:)

I always enjoy reading your posts about blogging and your income. I think it’s interesting and bloggers can always learn from each other.
