This time next week I’ll be sharing how I did on my goal race for this winter (technically spring since spring starts on the 20th). Check back later this week for my goals for this race! As you know, each week during this training cycle (I’m training for the B&A Trail Half Marathon – a relatively small, rails to trail half coming up on Sunday), I will share how my training went and what the week looked like. I do this because: 1) I love reading about how other folks train and 2) it’s great for me to have a record of what I did each week. Also, honestly, it helps keep me accountable when I know I’ll be writing about it. I also post almost all of my runs on Instagram as well. I’ve started a weekly link up for Training Recaps – let’s support each other as we train this winter! Please do link up!
Monday: An easy 3 mile run commute from work. It was fun to run home and the bonus of daylight savings is that it doesn’t get dark until later.
Tuesday: Snow! We had a bit of snow + ice, which made me change my plans. I ran for 5 miles and ran fast when I could and slowed down on the parts of the trail that were covered in ice. I’m still disappointed that we didn’t have one snow storm that was serious enough for me to use my Yaktrax. Boo!
Wednesday: Rest day!
Thursday: I was supposed to run my final tempo run. But. I slept HORRIBLY the previous night and just needed more rest. So I didn’t run. This might be the second time I’ve skipped a run this training cycle that wasn’t due to my surgery or the funeral I went to. Grace, right?
Friday: I got to run with my bud (and former Friday Five co-host) Cynthia! We had such fun running downtown and catching up. It had been WAY too long. Plus Pure Barre after work – a real butt kicker, too!
Saturday: 8.5 comfortable miles with my Saturday run crew. The miles felt easy and the company was wonderful. A great run.
Sunday: 3.6 easy with Caitlin to end the week. Y’all I am READY TO RACE! 🙂
Total mileage for the week: 25.36 miles
Total mileage for the year: 341.65 miles
Total mileage for this training cycle: 465.2 miles
Spring races are starting – anyone have any big ones coming up?

We had about four inches of snow and I wore my trail shoes instead of my Yaktrax. They worked great since the snow was a little deeper and not slippery.
Have a great week and a fantastic race next weekend! Can’t wait to read all about it!

Yeah – there just wasn’t enough on the ground for me to use my Yak. So sad! Thanks for the well wishes! I’m so happy it’s finally here!
We had more of a snow/ice mixture so it was very slippery – not great for running!
I’m so excited for you and can’t believe that race week is already here!
That whole storm was a disappointment to me! Boo!!!
I’ve had enough of this weather confusion – time for spring!
Good luck with your race – can’t wait to hear how it goes!

I’m with you – bring on SPRING!!!
Congrats on wrapping up another great training cycle! Enjoy race week this week – can’t wait to hear how it goes!
Yay, cannot wait to hear about your race!
We had just enough snow/ice that I had to run inside on Wednesday, and my normal trail for long runs still isn’t
“runnable.” Good luck this weekend!
Oh no – hope your trail is back to runnable!
I’m so glad you feel ready for your race! I hope you have a smooth, easy race and crush it this weekend! Grace is something I really need to focus on!
It’s a work in progress over here 🙂
Great job this past week! I got in a run on Tuesday before the storm too. The rest of the week was just awful in Philly…I’m so glad it’s finally clearing up. Can’t wait to see your goals and recap of the race!

I’m so excited for you, Courtney! You’ve put in a lot of hard work this training cycle, and I have no doubt that it’ll pay off at the race. Here’s to getting that new PR that you’ve been after!

Thank you – I’m hoping for a great day 🙂
I can tell you are so ready for this race! Cannot wait to read the race recap! Well done on all your hard work, and good luck!!
WOO HOO!!! This is so exciting, Courtney! I’m ready for you to race, too 🙂 I’m kind of cracking up about your disappointment with the weather and no YakTrax this year; after last year, I felt sure you would NEVER want to see snow again! That was last year, right? Sheesh. Anyway, I hope you have a great week and know that I’ll be cheering big for you! YOU ARE READY!

Looking forward to reading your race recap! Good luck!
We got about 2 ft of snow last week -0 not fun. I have a half in NYC on April 30. I hope things melt soon…. I am so done with winter.
Me too – I’m ready to be running in shorts all the time!
Nice week! Good luck and have fun in your race! I’m sure you’ll do awesome! You have been doing so great in training!

I’m glad I’m not the only one that looks forward to pulling out the Yaktrax! But I’m sorry you haven’t had a chance to break them out 🙁 Can’t wait to read about your race next week!
I’ve accepted that I’m not getting a snow run this year – now I just want spring!!
Wow, 460+ miles for this training cycle–and you still have a week to go! Awesome job this whole training. I don’t care how many people tell me less is more. More mileage definitely works! Of course you are ready for race day, and of course you will rock it. No doubt!

You know it’s funny because I missed a few days of running due to my surgery and a funeral and have skipped maybe two runs and that has led me to feel like I really haven’t run much but tallying it up over time does suggest otherwise! Super excited to race two weekends in a row (and SO excited to meet up with you next weekend!)
woohoo your almost there! Cant wait to hear about race day, and good luck to you! Head up, wings out!
Best of luck!!!! I can’t wait to see how you do!
That’s funny about your YakTrax. I got to wear mine just once in Ohio this winter. We just didn’t get all of that snow everyone was talking about early in the season. Too bad though, because I love snow!
Good luck on your race. Sounds like you are all set!!
