Last year, I ran quite a few races. I ran the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure (5K), Capital Hill Classic (10K) and the Rock and Roll Half Marathon (13.1 miles). This year, I already have the Cherry Blossom 10 miler and the Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon on deck. So in 3 short days, my 1/2 marathon training will begin. This time, I’m using Jeff Galloway’s run/walk method this time and I’m excited to see how it works. I’ve always been of the belief that if I walk while I’m running, I will not be able to start running. This has always been a mental barrier of mine and I’m looking forward to breaking through it while training. I will be running about 2.5 minutes and then walking for 1 minute during my training. Does anyone else currently do this? Any tips?
In addition to my running, I’m super excited to make some meals out of my new Smitten Kitchen cookbook. Tonight, I’m trying my hand at Flat Roasted Chicken. Can’t wait! I will report back , but seriously, you should probably just go ahead and order the Smitten Kitchen book, if only to drool over the food pictures. They are amazing. It is a beautiful cookbook and I can’t wait to make dinner tonight!
