It is race week and I am finally ready to settle on my race goals for the Berlin Marathon. The race is fast approaching and I am ready!
- A Goal: 3:55. This is the pace I have been training for (equates to an 8:58 pace) and I am confident that I can run this pace. My plan is to start a bit slower and settle in around the 5k mark. I will hold pace through the 30k and then give it everything I have for the final 12k.
- B Goal: 3:59:59. If it becomes clear that I won’t hit 3:55, I would be thrilled with any time that starts with the number 3. Sub-4 is the goal and I fully intend to hit my goal. Sub-4 or bust!
- C Goal: 4:10. This would still be a big PR and more representative of my fitness. I think I was capable of this last year in Chicago but I had a major fueling error. I will not make that same mistake this weekend.
I am very very excited about the race. As I write this, I’m about 36 hours out from my flight to Germany. I will not be blogging while I am gone but I will be sharing some updates on Instagram. You can follow along using my hashtag #eatprayrunberlin. Good luck to everyone who is racing over the next couple of weeks and I look forward to sharing a lot about my trip once I am back in the states.
Anyone else run an international marathon?
Safe travels!! Run your heart out girli! I’ve never been international. I’d love to run Ireland marathon one day… enjoy Berlin!

Have a great race!
I’ve run the Dublin Marathon, and while it was one of my slowest (due to an injury leading up to it) it was one of the best races of my life. Best of luck this weekend and enjoy every minute of it!

You’ve put in all the hard work, and you’ve seen signs throughout your training that your fitness is there. This race is not only your victory lap for all your hard training, but it’s where you get to let your legs run the race you know they can run, and where you’ll achieve your race goals. You’re going to do great!!!! Enjoy Berlin and the race. I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to hear all about it! Will be cheering you on from overseas!
