I used to have mixed feelings about using Facebook for my blog, but over the past month or so, I’ve seen some results from it and decided that I’d stick with it. Facebook is consistently changed but I’ve found that if you focus on just a few things you can use Facebook to help grow your blog.
- Join a blogger support group on Facebook. There are a number of these groups and you probably know someone in one. I’m in a couple related to different ambassadorships and a couple have that sprung up from those ambassador programs. These groups are great because I participate when I have the time (usually how it works is if you post a link, you commit to sharing other links in that thread). It’s help me to grown my reach and my blog.
- Connect your Instagram to your blog’s Facebook page. I did this awhile back and it’s really upped my Facebook engagement. I’m posting on Instagram typically once a day (sometimes more) and so sending those posts to Facebook is a great way to share more of my life with my Facebook folks! The great thing is you choose to send the post to Facebook so you don’t have to send every post.
- Try different forms of posting and work with what gets you the most engagement. I find that I get a lot of engagement posting a picture and captioning it. You should play around with what works best for you – I like to look at the insights section of my Facebook blog page and see what posts are performing the best.
How do you use your Facebook page to grow your blog?
So I’ve tried connecting to FB , but it will only post on my personal account and not my blog page? Any ideas on how to fix that?

Ditto, I can’t figure that out either Sue! Was just about to comment the same way. Facebook is one of the social media outlets that I honestly hate and don’t pay much attention to anymore.

i went to sharing settings and went i connected my facebook, there was an option on insta that read “share as __” and there i added my blog page. hopefully that helps. it’s not really intuitive – which is annoying@
Thanks! I had the same question, too! ๐

I found the same Instagram issue that Sue mentioned, so alas, if I want to upload a photo to my FB page I have have to manually upload it after I’ve posted it to Instagram.
I’ve found that I get the most hits on FB posts that are more personal and less focused on my blog posts themselves, such as photos from training runs or races, or questions that I’ve posed to my readers that don’t contain blog post links. These take more work, so I’m still trying to figure out what works best for myself and my readers.

i agree regarding the facebook interaction. by linking my instagram with my blog’s facebook, i’m sharing parts of my life that aren’t always seen on the blog and i get really great interaction. the linking is key though because it’s just easy!
GREAT post! Just a few weeks ago I created a Facebook page for my blog and now I struggle with getting likes. This is very helpful! Thanks

definitely start engaging – it really makes a difference!
Thanks for the tips-helpful as always. I find I get more likes on FB if I post personal pics or events. I don’t have an instagram acct-do you think you really need both?? I’ve been struggling with this?

i don’t think you NEED anything – it’s more a question of if you want to engage on that medium. i like instagram but that’s just me ๐
I see the option to post my IG pics on FB too, but how do I link it to my blog’s facebook and not my personal FB account?

you have to go into instagram settings and add your fb page.
Thanks–great tips. I set up a FB page but totally underutilize it. I’m going to start sending over my IG posts, which is super easy. Baby steps!
yes – share your page so i can like it!
Great tips! I need to pay more attention to my FB page!

Courtney, I’ve noticed that same thing on Facebook; a captioned picture seems to reach more people. Thanks for sharing! Great reminder about Instagram…

I am horrible about using FB so I am glad it easily connects to Instagram because that seems to be where most of my FB stuff comes from.

This is the post I’ve been waiting for! I have been holding back on creating a Facebook page on my blog. I’ve looking at other bloggers’ FB posts to get a good idea on how it’s done. It seems like a relatively easy way to promote your blog. Thanks for the tips!

When I started my blog six weeks ago I was getting several hundred views from Facebook by week two or three. Now there are only about 100. It is so frustrating to work hard and Facebook not share it. Thanks for the info. I am loving the blogging process and learning all these new things.
Ah, Facebook. Well, I’ve pretty much taken to thinking of it as an “extra benefit” if anyone sees it. Its too bad that so few of my followers see my post. But, I need to remember that the cost is pretty good, so I try not to complain! I’ll have to look into blogging groups!

Good tips! I’m really bad about posting anything on Facebook because I get so little engagement from it. I’ll have to try these tips to see if they help.
