Welcome to my monthly series where I share my blog stats and income with you. I was inspired to do this because I know of some bigger bloggers (like Pinch of Yum) who share their blog stats and income but I really didn’t see any smaller bloggers (like me! and maybe you!) who do so. I figured if I was looking for something like this, others might be as well, so I decided that I’d start sharing my monthly stats and income. Here’s my December blog stats and income report – I hope you find this helpful (you can find November’s report here)!
Ad income: 57.89 (BlogHer) +15.40 (Adsense) = $73.29
Sponsored campaigns: $240
Affiliate income: $75
Total December income: $388.29
Total December pageviews: 16,961
As I mentioned in October’s post, I track and report my income on the blog as it comes in, with the exception of ad income – which I report for the corresponding month, even though I won’t physically see that income until later. This means that I’m reporting income on sponsored campaigns and affiliate links that likely happened a few months ago (as that’s the general timeline for payment). December just had a couple of campaigns pay out so my income dropped from November, but I expected that.
As far as pageviews, as the temps continue to drop, my most popular post on Pinterest (giving some tips for cold weather running) starts to get traffic again, and with over 20k pins, some of that traffic comes back to the blog. December was just a hare lower in pageviews than November, but I’m happy with where the month (and year) ended.
In December, my top three posts were:
- Holiday Gift Guide for the Person who has Everything. This post got a bunch of traffic and I think that’s because we all have that person (I called them the PWHE) in our lives who is impossible to shop for!
- Six Lessons Learned from Six Marathons in Two Years. Sometimes I can’t believe that I’ve actually run six marathons in two years. I have learned so much and still have so much to learn but sharing some of the lessons I’ve learned proved to resonate with my readers.
- Year of Running. This year I took over the Year of Running linkup from Amanda at Miss Zippy since she’s not actively blogging and it was so fun and got a great amount of traffic.
This past month, my top three referral sources were: 1) Pinterest; 2) direct and 3) Facebook. I continue to get really solid traffic from Facebook and it was good to see Pinterest jump back into the top spot. I’ve been working on upping my Pinterest game a bit – if you’re curious about my tips to increase how Pinterest can direct traffic to your blog make sure to sign up for my newsletter so you can read my tips in my next ebook, which will be sent to all my newsletter subscribers in a week or so. You can sign up in my sidebar, through the popup on this page or just by clicking here. Yes, that means that the ebook and newsletter that I’d been talking about for awhile are complete! I’m so excited that the newsletter is up and running and the first ebook is done. I hope you’ll sign up for my monthly newsletter and join in the fun!
Just an FYI, this post is running earlier than it usually does in the month because I’m also going to post a recap of 2015 stats for the year and I thought it made sense for this December 2015 post to launch first. You can normally look for this post the last Tuesday in the month.
Do you have a newsletter?
Thanks for sharing this as always Courtney! I
I’m always interested to see what other bloggers are doing and promoting their blog. It looks like you made a good portion from blogging this month.
Every little bit helps, Hollie! Thanks for always reading!
You are doing awesome Courtney – very happy to see this. I remember your first income report and it was maybe 1% of what you are making now so KUDOS TO YOU!!!
Thanks, friend! It helps to have good examples and support of blogging friends like you!
Awesome job! Residual traffic from old posts always makes me happy! 🙂

I love seeing what you and other bloggers make from their blog. I’m not yet at the point where I’m making money, and don’t know if I will ever be, but I think it’s a great way to make some extra $$ or even earn a living. It helps me look at my stats in more/different ways. I am looking forward to your 2015 recap!
Thanks for sharing this! I am still trying to get my traffic up so I can actually monetize. I never see smaller blogs do this either!
