February Blog Stats & Income

March 22, 2016 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC10 Comments

Welcome to my monthly series where I share my blog stats and income with you. I was inspired to do this because I know of some bigger bloggers (like Pinch of Yum) who share their blog stats and income but I really didn’t see any smaller bloggers (like me! and maybe you!) who do so. I figured if I was looking for something like this, others might be as well, so I decided that I’d start sharing my monthly stats and income. Here’s my February blog stats and income report – I hope you find this helpful (you can find January’s report here)!

blog stats and income report-2

Ad income:  16.97 (BlogHer) + 40.11 (The Blogger Network) = $57.08

Sponsored campaigns: $250

Total February income: $307.08

Total February page views: 15,344

I’m utilizing a new ad network (The Blogger Network) so my ad income now comes from TBN and BlogHer. I will probably drop BlogHer and just run with TBN in a couple of months, but I’m not decided yet on that. I’m super pleased with how TBN is performing so far in terms of ad income. One neat thing is that TBN manages my ads so I don’t have to worry about any of the details. I really appreciate that since I just don’t have time to worry about ads.

February was, as expected, lower in pageviews than January, but that happens each and every year. I’m not really sweating it, to be honest. As I wrote about a few weeks ago, this blog is strictly a side hustle, not a profession. 🙂

In February, my top three posts were:

  • Five Running Related Tools I Use. Everyone likes to read about things that can help their running, so I wasn’t surprised to see this.
  • Shamrock Half Marathon Training Recap, Week 7.  This training recap is from the week my knee first gave out on me and I discovered I had a problem I needed to fix. Reading back that post, I’m so grateful I addressed the issue quickly and swiftly.
  • Why I Don’t Use the Phrase Girl Boss. This post really resonated with folks and I love the discussion that occurred around it. Go give it a read if you missed it!

This past month, my top three referral sources were: 1) direct; 2) Pinterest and 3) Facebook. Each month, these three referral sources continue to be at the top of my list, with Pinterest and direct traffic flip flopping for the number one spot frequently. Don’t forget that I now have a monthly (with occasional extra updates) newsletter offering tips and tricks that are NOT found here on the blog. You can sign up in my sidebar, through the popup on this page or just by clicking here.

How were your blog stats in February?

It sounds like your month went well. I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing how you are achieving your blogging stats. I’m glad your knee didn’t play too much of a roll during the race and you recovered well. It’s always nice when you are able to address those things quickly.

I do appreciate seeing your stats each month. My February stats continued to grow. I’ve continued to work really hard to grow it and it is finally working. my question that I struggle with is about ads. I have not done any yet and I am really struggling with it. Thoughts?

It’s really a personal decision that only you can make. Honestly pretty much every website you visit has ads. People are conditioned to ignore them, in my opinion. But you have to decide what your monetization strategy will be and what makes sense for you. Not super helpful I know, but I don’t think I can tell you anything you don’t already know on that front. 🙂

I need companies who are serious, not free-loaders, to come to me to promote their goods/information/etc. This week I’ve already gone back and forth with two companies, but in the end both told me they had no budget for paying for sponsored posts.

Thanks again for the great info and inspiration!

Love that you do this as a smaller blogger! It gives me hope that eventually I can get my posts off the ground and make a little bit of income myself. Thanks for sharing!
