Happy 4th of July!

July 4, 2013 By: project30in20129 Comments

I hope you all have some fantastic plans for the holiday and hopefully you are taking a long weekend. I will actually be in my office on Friday but not for the whole day, so I’ll consider that a win.

I started my holiday with an early morning track workout with the DC Luna Chix. Yep, I’ve committed to the track. I really do think this speedwork is helping with my regular runs and I love the challenge (both of waking up before 5am and of the actual workout :)).

After our 4th of July track workout!

After our 4th of July track workout!

Here’s what I’m up to the rest of this holiday weekend:

I am dog sitting this weekend, and am so excited to have doxie Gretel this weekend (Sasha is too). Yay for having another doxie in the house!

Later today, I’ll head to a couple of bbqs with friends and then watch the awesome DC fireworks from a rooftop. I’m making kale caesar salad to share at the bbq and know it’ll be a big hit. When I made it for my church picnic, it went so fast half of my friends didn’t get any! If you haven’t tried this recipe yet, you should! It’s quick and easy and probably the healthiest caesar salad you’ll ever eat 🙂

Yummy -- and healthy!

Yummy — and healthy!

Then tomorrow, it’s back at work for a few hours then off to check out Barre3 in Georgetown with my friend Cynthia who blogs over at You Signed Up for What? I love barre classes but haven’t done one in months so this might just kill me. Friday and Saturday I have plans for relaxation, a long run on the Mall and perhaps a pool visit. It should be a fun weekend filled with lots of friends, food, running and relaxing.

I’ll be popping in a bit over the holiday weekend with an update or two, but probably won’t have a full post again till Monday. Have a great holiday!

Awesome job getting in the workout first thing today! Looking forward to our barre workout on Friday – it might do me in too since I’ve only done it once!

I got in a run after dinner tonight- should have gone before! Tomorrow I will go out when it’s cooler, and more than 30 minutes after dinner! Your salad sounds good! Enjoy your weekend!
