It’s race week, y’all. Grandma’s Marathon is Saturday and I am so excited. I always love writing my race goals blog post because it gives me time to plan and visualize. I have very simple goals for Grandma’s Marathon and I’m excited to share them with you. If you want to follow along, there is a Grandma’s app and you can track me – my bib is 7931 for tracking purposes.
Obviously, I’ve been trying to run a sub-4 hour marathon and that is still the goal. I like to do A goals, B goals and C goals for race day.
- A Goal: 3:57. This is a 9:02 pace – and one I think is well within my fitness level. I am excited to get out there and see a new course and hopefully experience great weather.
- B Goal: 3:59:59. I would be thrilled to see this time – just seeing a 3 on the clock would be fantastic.
- C Goal: PR (faster than 4:14). This is always a goal in a goal race and I know that if something goes sideways, being able to focus on just getting a PR will be helpful.
My coach has said to consider 9:10 pace or faster a big win and I’m taking that to heart. This has been a tough year and a tough training cycle but I feel ready. Nervous as heck, but ready. I’m so excited to have so many friends and Oiselle teammates racing and looking forward to seeing a number of my teammates over the weekend. I have been visualizing the race and imagining how I’ll feel (tired, frustrated, happy, etc.) the past couple of weeks and I’m just ready to do the damn thing!
Wish me luck and of course, check in on Instagram to see how it went.
Anyone else racing this weekend? Good luck to ya!
Good luck this weekend! I will definitely stalk your Instagram to see how it goes for you.
Lol thanks so much!
I’m so excited for you. You know you’ve done the training – time to crush your goals!

Can’t wait to hear how it goes – you kicked ass this training cycle, now you’ll get to enjoy the fruits. Have a great race!

So sorry to hear about your race…you will be back in no time! I anticipate that you will expand on the experience soon…and I look forward to see how the day unfolded.
