Y’all we are just two weeks out from the Richmond marathon and so this week’s Richmond Marathon Training Recap is focused on keeping my legs fresh and cross training. After my week of major miles last week, I wanted to take it easy and rest my still tweaky knee but still get in some miles this week. Here’s how it went:
Monday: rest
Tuesday: barre class that kicked my butt, followed by my group run that I lead each week. Ran about 3 miles total, at a relaxed pace.
Wednesday: rest
Thursday: 4 miles at a sub ten minute mile pace.
Friday: barre class that was amazing and relaxing and challenging all at the same time. Loved it!
Saturday: rest
Sunday: 4 mile run + 5k race. I had initially intended to run more miles but it was so blistery and windy out, I had a hard time getting out the door so I was only able to get in 4 and change before the Race to End Women’s Cancer 5k that I ran.
It was a solid week and I’m looking forward to running in one of my favorite places because I’m heading to Charlottesville, VA this upcoming weekend. Yay!
edited to add: I’ve had a couple folks ask about my sweet new shoes (pictured above). They are adidas Boost Glide 6s AND right now adidas is having a secret sale so you can snag some for free! Click here for the secret sale: adidas Boost – Save 20-50%. The sale ends tomorrow night – so move quickly. Sadly, I bought my new shoes BEFORE the sale began. Boo. But you can take advantage of it! The links in this post are affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.
Congrats to all the NYCM runners! Who else raced this past weekend??
Next weekend must be the weekend to head to Charlottesville because we’ll be there as well! Yay!

Yay indeed! The law school hosts an almumi volunteee weekend each November, so I usually go this time of year π
I had a local 5 mile race on Saturday and I PRed! Kind of crazy that my 5 mile pace is faster than my 5k pace, but I think that means I just need to get out there and run more 5ks. 12 miles on Sunday in that wind was brutal and my legs were heavy from racing on Sunday. Can’t wait for Richmond.

haha, i agree with your assessment! more 5ks for the win π
I parked myself on the couch yesterday and watched NYC. Made me feel lazy but I ran Saturday.

haha, thanks for the encouragement — i’m really really excited for richmond and just hoping for no rain!
I didn’t get my full intended mileage in this past weekend either. I went out Sunday morning and it was just so windy! I think I got somewhere between 6-7 miles in but my phone died just after mile 5. I then watched some of the NYCM coverage and saw that they were dealing with the wind too π

it was super windy! i’m so proud of the nycm runners!
Great job on your workouts and taking it easy. It is hard to do. I feel like when I am not logging miles everyday I am not doing enough. But Richmond eill be here before you know it. Enjoy the taper!

Yeah, it was pretty intense at times!
Your training is looking great! The race will be here before you know it. Still taking it easy but I’ll start running again this week. I’ve been just piling miles on the elliptical. So not the same!

Yay for running again!!
Courtney, I’m so glad to hear that you are being super-smart with your knee and trying to get some rest before your big race – woo hoo! I also thought you did a GREAT job in your 5K on Sunday, especially given the yucky conditions – way to go!

Yey! You are almost there!! You go to Barre 2 times a week? Do you find it’s helped you? I bought a groupon for 10 classes at PB in Alexandria, I am looking forward to starting it!

I go 2-3 times and yes, it has helped strengthen those smaller stability muscles a lot!!
That looks like a great week of training! Hope your knee behaves itself until your race is over.
Me too!!
Whenever you mention barre I get so jealous. I miss it so much! Glad to hear it’s just as awesome as ever!
