Wedding Wednesday: Color Scheme

March 19, 2014 By: Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC12 Comments

Happy Wednesday, y’all! I’m writing this from sunny Miami, which is a nice respite from the snow and cold of DC. I thought I’d take a break from talking about the marathon that wasn’t and get back to Wedding Wednesday! I’m linking up again with Jordon and Meredith and make sure you check out their blogs!

We’ve decided on navy, and yellow (with grey accents) for our wedding colors and I’m so excited by this combination. The ladies will all be wearing navy dresses, with yellow bouquets and the gentlemen will be wearing grey suits with either a yellow or navy tie. I plan on having an all yellow bouquet as well. I spent too much quite a bit time messing around on Pinterest looking at different color schemes and really ended up loving ours. Below you can find a couple of the pics on Pinterest that helped inspire our decision:

I love the contrast of the navy and yellow! Our wedding colors were midnight blue and pale green, which was inspired not only by these being our favorite colors but the fact that I wanted to incorporate my grandmother’s Scottish family tartan, and blue is the dominant color in the tartan. (My grandfather even wore his kilt at our wedding!). I was then inspired to add the green when I saw pale green roses in a bridal magazine, and decided that the roses needed to be my primary flower for the wedding. The pale green wound up contrasting beautifully against my bridesmaids’ blue dresses.

I love these colors together, they look so sophisticated 🙂 Our wedding colors were green, gold and grey. I love grey as a neutral instead of white or black. And my outfit for the reception was green with some gold trim (it was an Indian wedding so no white dress) so it inspired the color choices.

Our colors were dark purple & white, with lighter shades of purple/pink as an accent. We both have a birthday in February so my engagement ring is a diamond set into an amethyst. We decided the week after we got engaged to use that as our color scheme inspiration.

I like purples and lavenders, so those will be the colors of my dress, bouquet, and my guy’s tie. I might throw in some pink there, too.

Love these colors! We thought about doing gray for our tuxs but when I found the tan I was in love (and it coordinated a little better with green) its going to be beautiful! You could always find a color combination tie at a department store and get them for the guys (we did that) yellow/gray/blue is a pretty ‘normal’ combination
