What’s beautiful to you?
Everyone’s definition of beautiful is different. Some people focus on aesthetics. Some focus on the things that can not be seen as easily. Some like art, music, or literature. My friend Hannah highlights a beautiful (inside AND out) woman each Thursday on her blog.
As for me, I see beauty in many things. In the sun, the sand, and the waves. In delicious food, friends and family. But on some lucky mornings, I’m blessed to be able to see the beauty of the sun rising in the sky as I run along a path. This morning was one of those mornings. I had great company, gorgeous weather and I felt strong. As I ran, the sun came up, there was a breeze from the water and I passed many happy runners, walkers and had a great view of rowers out on the water. I really felt blessed to be able to run and to be able to run in such a beautiful setting.
And in case you are wondering, while there were no negative splits on this mornings 3.4 mile run, I felt strong the entire time and actually was disappointed when the group I was running with stopped to stretch a bit short of our starting point. It was exciting for me to have a quick paced run since I didn’t trek out to the track this Thursday. I am going to probably only do organized track work sporadically since it is a ways from my house. I don’t want to lose any of the speed I’ve built up, so I’m going to try and still incorporate speed work into one workout a week. I’m not sure what that will look like yet, but I’ll write about it here once I figure it out 🙂
Here are today’s times:
MILE | TIME | CHANGE | AVG PACE |
---|---|---|---|
1
*Fastest
|
9:47 | — | 9’47″/mi |
2 | 19:40 | + 0:04 (-1%) | 9’52″/mi |
3 | 29:31 | – 0:01 (0%) | 9’51″/mi |
What’s beautiful to you? Where do you see beauty?
I love being able to see the beauty of an area while running or biking, rather than just from my car window as we drive by. Glad you got a chance to enjoy it and felt strong!
Yes, exactly! It was so gorgeous. I’m soaking up this great run to remember on not so great days 🙂
One of my favorite things about being a runner is the time I get to spend outside. I love the morning air, cool breeze, sunrise, sunset and everything in between. It’s easy to take all of those beautiful moments for granted when you are inside but I have a deeper appreciation for them when I’m outside!
I completely agree Karen! That’s exactly how I feel 🙂
Beauty for me has been watching people interact while I’m out running errands with the babe. Since I stay at home adult interaction is a novelty! Seems weird but I love seeing the little things people do for each other they don’t even realize!
Awww, that’s so sweet. I love it!
What app do you use to track your running?
I love it when I take a step back and see the beauty in small things. It always makes my day a little bit brighter.
Amy, I use the Nike+ app and I really like it! It syncs with your online account and you can view splits, etc. It’s also free, which is great!
